RT Pro’s Logan Gastel Finishes Top Ten in BITD Turbo UTV Championship

RT Pro’s Logan Gastel got a last-minute call from a teammate to enter the Pahrump Nugget 250 to help boost car count. With less than 24 hours to spare, Gastel took the start, which kept him ninth in the Best in the Desert Turbo Points Championship.

“We didn’t initially plan to race in Pahrump due to the points,” said Gastel. “We had planned to take off that race and focus on building our new car for 2017. Unfortunately, Friday night we heard from our teammates that the car count was too low for them to get enough points for the championship. So we loaded up the car and headed to Pahrump. Unfortunately, we only made it to pit one.”

Looking back on the season, Gastel continues to be impressed by his RT Pro suspension, chassis and steering components. Many of the parts are still being used, even after an entire season desert racing miles.

“We have over 1,500 miles on our turbo car this year with most of the original stuff we started with,” said Gastel. “We changed some things because of revisions that Andy made. The steering components and everything else has worked flawless for us.

“RT Pro has been great for us,” added Gastel. “To help those guys develop their long travel suspension and chassis components for the Can-Am Maverick has been a true honor for us. Working with Andy and RT Pro has been great. You would think being so far away and having to explain things over the phone that you wouldn’t get what you needed, but they’ve always over-performed.”

Gastel has big plans for 2017 and looks to have one of the top cars in the Pro Turbo class. He’ll unveil a new Can-Am X3 at the season opener.

“We definitely need a fresh start,” said Gastel. “We’ve signed a multi-year contract with Can-Am to race the X3 beginning next year. The car is super fast right out of the box and we’re looking forward to some great results.”

Gastel and his new Can-Am X3 will be ready for action as BITD kicks off its 2017 season January 6-7 in Parker, AZ.
