SINCLAIR RACING TAKES IATVHSS 2012 UTV MOD CHAMPIONSHIP

First, Sinclair racing (Dan & Christine Sinclair) would like to thank RT Pro for the heavy duty A-arms and tie rods.  They held up well all season.  We also want to say thank you for the great support and service we always receive.

The 2012 season got off to a rough start for Sinclair Racing and our 2010 Polaris Ranger RZR S.  The season began in Albia on April 28th.  Track conditions were perfect, and we we’re excited to get the new race season underway.  We were in lap 8 of 10 and running in second place when we lost the rear differential.  We placed 6th out of six entries.

Thanks to some assistance from RT Pro, we began our second race in Fort Dodge on May 26th.  Unfortunately, our luck did not improve.  In lap 4 we broke a ball joint and finished in last place again.

RT Pro did an awesome job of getting us the parts we needed. We had plenty of time to repair and make some adjustments to our machine, and started race #3 in Beaconsfield on July 7th.  The conditions were perfect.  The track was a UTV racers dream!  Plenty of room for passing and some awesome jumps!  Now our luck was starting to turn.  We finished 3rd out of nine entries.  Our first podium finish of the season!

Race #4 was on July 28th in Mt. Pleasant.  The track was mostly dry and rough with 2 rocky creek crossings.  We crossed the finish line, mud-crusted in 4th place.

Race #5, back to Beaconsfield on Sept. 9th.  The track presented new challenges from the July race.  Some modifications were made, and we ran the track in reverse.  After the previous race we made some adjustments to the clutch.  We knew we’d done the right thing after we passed the current points leader.  We’d been chasing him all season long.  We finished a solid 2nd and 2nd in points.  Only 2 points behind 1st.

Our final race was Oct. 6th in Carlisle.  We knew our machine was running the best it had all season.  We had already done the clutch adjustments.  We got the RT Pro suspension dialed in.  Then Constitution Customs did some motor work after race #5.  Nerves were high as we lined up for the start.  We were 3 points away from our first championship!  We knew the hole shot would be key.  The flag dropped and we pushed the pedal to the floor.  Determined to hold our line, there was some rubbin’ and bumpin’ but after the first corner we were out in front and pulling away.  The race wasn’t without it’s challenges.  We had to squeeze past some twisted wrecks, and the dust was insane.  Although, not quite as bad in the front of the pack.  We were having the best race of the season, but we weren’t sure we had the championship clenched until we saw the points leader cheering us on from the pits.  His machine had blown up.  We had the championship!  That moment defines the IATVHSS series.  We race each other hard.  We are all great competitors, but we are also great supporters of each other.  Instead of being disappointed that he’d just lost the championship our fellow racer was cheering us on and was one of the first to congratulate us at the finish.

Thank you RT Pro.  There is no way we could have done it without your support.  Not only did we win the championship, but with 45 racers in the 3 classes combined, we finished 3rd overall.  We look forward to working with RT Pro again in 2013.
