Sims Race Report WORCS Stop 8

May 22, 2017- Cedar City, UT- My team and I had another turnaround trip to Utah and back last weekend to race at WORCS round 8. We’ve just about mastered the 940 mile round trip journey and can do it in about 36 hours! We headed out on Friday night and arrived in Cedar City at the Iron Mine Race Park on Saturday morning. I got checked in, headed to tech, and then went to the driver’s meeting. We took one last look at my car to make sure everything was in great shape before I lined up to race in the afternoon.

My class was in row 4 at the start line, and as the other classes took off in front of me, I got focused and ready to start the race. There were 6 cars in my class. The green flag flew and we took off from the line! I fell into 2nd place off of the start line and stayed right behind the car in front of me. I didn’t want to let him get too far out ahead of me.
I wasn’t able to make it to practice the day before, so I was running the course blind. The first two laps were tough and I was trying to find the best lines to take as we raced through the course. During lap three, the third place finisher found a way around me. I stayed right behind her, and as we headed into lap four, I was able to make a pass in a corner, and took off with my foot to the floor. I was determined to catch first place. I flew through the course, but couldn’t quite make it to the checkers first. I clocked the fastest lap of the day in my class at 12:31, and crossed the finish line just 3 seconds behind the first place finisher. I hit the podium in the 2nd place spot.

We are prepping the car and gearing up for the month of June. I am looking forward to racing at the DIRT Series round 5, the Quad X Series round 2, and the WORCS Series round 9!
